Naturally Conwy Food Event With Special Guest Bryn Williams
On Thursday the 27th the very popular pop up shop on Station Road in Colwyn Bay held a food showcase event for restaurant, eatery & hotel owners in Conwy County. The event had been organised to showcase the local food produce within Conwy county and provided people with an opportunity to taste food and drink alcohol produced within the county of Conwy. The event was hosted by Conwy Cynhaliol – a Rural Development Plan Project in rural Conwy. I was asked to be the official photographer for the event and I was honoured to be able to be given a great opportunity to photograph and help promote local businesses. I also love food so it was a win win really! 😉
As you can see there was lots of tasty food and produce on display and I loved photographing it all! I also saw a romanesco cauliflower for the very first time which I never knew even existed. It looks like something from another planet. I definitely want to buy one just to see what it tastes like.
There was also a special guest at the event, Celebrity Chef Bryn Williams who is also the owner of the Porth Eirias Bistro located on the prom. It was nice seeing support from a famous chef who was born in North Waes! 🙂
There was plenty of food to go around thanks to Outside Catering based in Llandudno, from canapes with lamb and salmon to freshly made soup, it was exceptional! All cooked with local ingredients.
As well as food there was plenty of free alcohol to try and choose from like Merywen gin and Gwinllan wine! I will be buying some because who can resist welsh wine and gin? 😉 I think it’s awesome that there is a vineyard right here in Conwy County!
It was a successful event and from what I heard there were lots of relationships formed between caters, hoteliers and the produce owners! Which is great news. Shopping local is the way forward as I think people are getting fed up of these big supermarket chains! We’re all guilty of popping into one all the time, but if there is something like naturally Conwy right on your doorstep, it’s definitely worth shopping there for all your fruit and veg ( and beer & gin … of course! )
I had a great time and I can’t wait for the next one!
More pictures to be posted on my gallery next week, and if you are one of the produce owners and would like a copy of your photographed produce then please email me firstname.lastname@example.org please don’t take the images without permission! 🙂
