Getting Arty With Polaroids

If you don’t already know by now, I LOVE Polaroid pictures… in fact it’s almost an obsession. I have hundreds stored away in boxes and photo albums that haven’t seen the light of day since they were first developed.

Within those boxes and photo albums are a few shots that I wasn’t paticulary happy with, so that got me thinking, what can I do with them? It’d be a shame to throw them away but they weren’t good enough to display.

And then, last night, it hit me… why don’t I paint on them? Not only will they look more colourful, but if they look rubbish at least I have plenty to practice on, right?

So when I put my sweet little baby down for a nap I got out my old watercolour paints and had a go.

I kind of went full on crazy with this one, but I wanted to completely get rid of the background, then once I started I couldn’t stop.

I really enjoyed experimenting with the photo above and actually didn’t think it was bad for a first attempt. Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly no artist by any means, but what even is art anyway, right? 😀

UPDATED: 23/04 – * I’ve added a few more to the gallery * I painted some more to add extra life to and I found it very theraputic and it helped take my mind off being in lockdown.

If you’re like me and have a lot of polaroids lying around I highly recommend this technique, it’s fun and who cares what the end result looks like as long as you’re having fun and releasing your inner wannabe artist!
